Seattle Mariners Re-Writing Baseball Leaderboards and Team History Books Amid Hot Streak
The Seattle Mariners throttled the Chicago White Sox on Monday night by a score of 14-2.
The win moved the M's to a season-high 15 games over .500 at 70-55 and put them at 1.0 game up in the chase for the third and final wild card spot in the American League.
Seattle got dominant performances across the board, including from starting pitcher Luis Castillo, who went seven strong innings. Offensively, the team was driven by catcher Cal Raleigh, who was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two home runs and six RBI.
While the catcher doesn't hit for much average, he is among the best power-hitting backstops in the league. He's hitting .225 but has 24 home runs and 61 RBIs. Those 24 home runs are the most among catchers this year.
The M's have won seven consecutive games and are now sitting at the top of multiple leaderboards in baseball - and creating some team history.
