Starting Lineups, Pitchers for Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays Game Sunday
The Seattle Mariners (11-16) and Toronto Blue Jays (18-9) will round out a three-game series at Rogers Centre Sunday afternoon at 1:37 p.m. ET in Toronto, Canada.
The Blue Jays are trying for a sweep and hoping to keep pace with the American League East division-leading Tampa Bay Rays (23-5). The Rays are off to their best start in franchise history and have a 4.5-game lead over the Jays.
The Mariners will try to salvage the series and prevent being swept. Despite winning their first postseason series in 21 years last fall, the M's are off to a cold start to begin the season. A loss Sunday would put the club six games below .500, not a place where it would like to be in what appears to be a hypercompetitive AL West division.
Marco Gonzales (2-0, 3.32 ERA) will take the mound for Seattle, with Chris Bassitt (3-2, 4.82 ERA) pitching for Toronto in the series finale. It is the first series between the two clubs since the Mariners swept the Blue Jays out of the postseason last October, putting an end to the Jays' season in the American League Wild Card Series.
