Starting Lineups, Starting Pitchers for St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants Game Wednesday
The St. Louis Cardinals (9-15) and San Francisco Giants (10-13) will play game three of their four-game series at Oracle Park Wednesday night at 9:45 p.m. ET in San Francisco, California.
The Cardinals made a pair of roster moves Wednesday afternoon, signing infielder Taylor Motter to a Major League contract, while optioning top prospect Jordan Walker to Triple-A Memphis. Walker, 20, is the no. 2 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Walker opened the season with the Cardinals' big league club, entirely skipping the Triple-A level altogether. Wednesday, St. Louis sent Walker down.
Entering the season as favorites to repeat as National League Central champions, the Cardinals have disappointed through the first four weeks of the season. St. Louis enters play Wednesday at 9-15, in last place of the NL Central. The Pittsburgh Pirates (16-8) lead the division, and are up seven games on St. Louis.
Steven Matz (0-3, 6.55 ERA) will take the mound for Oli Marmol's club Wednesday, hoping to get St. Louis back in the win column. Anthony DeSclafani (1-1, 2.63 ERA) will start for the Giants.
