Tampa Bay Rays Stars in Middle of Loaded American League All-Star Order
Tampa Bay Rays stars Randy Arozarena and Yandy Diaz are featured prominently in the lineup for the American League in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Seattle.
Arozarena will hit third while Diaz will hit fifth for manager Dusty Baker, who earned the job by virtue of taking the Houston Astros to the World Series.
Here's the full lineup:
Semien 2B
Ohtani DH
Arozarena LF
Seager SS
Díaz 1B
García RF
Hays CF
Jung 3B
Heim C
Cole P
It's certainly a strong lineup for Baker's squad, even though it's not as strong as it could be. Mike Trout, Yordan Alvarez and Aaron Judge are unable to play because of injury.
Arozarena is making his first All-Star Game appearance after a first half that saw him hit .279 while posting a .388 on-base percentage. He's hit 16 homers and driven in 58 for the Rays, who own the best record in the American League at 58-35.
He's already won Rookie of the Year and American League Championship Series MVP honors in his career, so this is a nice new addition to the resume.
As for Diaz, this is also his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic. He's hitting .323 this season with 13 homers. His batting average leads the American League and is third in all of baseball behind only Luis Arraez (.383) and Ronald Acuna Jr. (.331).
The All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Park. It's the first time that the All-Star Game has been in Seattle since 2001.
