The World Series may not begin until Friday night, but we already know our pitching matchup for Game 1.

Getting the ball for the Texas Rangers will be Nathan Eovaldi. Zac Gallen will get the ball for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Eovaldi has been dominant in these playoffs for Texas, going 4-0 with a 2.42 ERA. He's struck out 28 batters in 26.0 innings. He's earned the nickname "Big Game Nate" because of the playoff exploits in his career. He helped lead the Boston Red Sox to a 2018 World Series title, and also took them to the ALCS in 2021. He's 8-3 lifetime in his playoff career with a 2.87 ERA. He's 8-1 in his starts.

This regular season, the 33-year-old went 12-5 with a 3.63 ERA. 

As for Gallen, he's struggled at times in his first playoffs, going 2-2 with a 5.24 ERA. The 28-year-old has only struck out 13 batters in 22.1 innings. He did post a dominant regular season for the Snakes, going 17-9 with a 3.47 ERA. He struck out 220 batters in 210 innings and started the All-Star Game for the National League.

Game 1 from Arlington is set for 8:03 p.m. ET. Game 2 will be Saturday at the same time.
