The Washington Nationals are set to debut some new threads in 2024.

Washington revealed two new uniforms on social media on Friday, including an alternate home jersey and road grays.

The Nationals already debuted their City Connect uniforms in 2022, garnering praise with their cherry blossom-inspired jerseys. Responses to the two new 2024 jerseys, meanwhile, have been much more divided right off the bat.

The alternate home jersey is still white, but it features one of the biggest departures from the Nationals' mainline style thus far.

The front logo is the club's "Vintage Capitol W" – which features a silhouette of the United States Capitol Building – and it is positioned on the left chest after previously only earning real estate on hats. A patch of the outline of DC is on the right sleeve.

Perhaps the most notable design choice for the home alternates is that the jersey is a v-neck pullover, rather than the standard button-down. The button-less style was more popular in the 1970s and 80s, at which point the Nationals were still the Montreal Expos.

The road grays are much more typical, retaining the button-down jersey and the team's primary logo on the left sleeve.

The script lettering across the front has been replaced, however, by a tri-colored block-text of "Washington."

MLB started following Nike's "four plus one" uniform rules in 2023. Each club is permitted to utilize one home uniform, one road uniform and two alternate uniforms over the course of a season, plus a third alternate if it is in the City Connect line.

As a result, the Nationals will retire their old road grays in order to make room for the redsigned ones. It remains to be seen which alternate they still swap out for the v-neck pullover – either their red of navy blue ones.
