WATCH: Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout Blasts Home Run in Home Opener
The Los Angeles Angels are off to a good start in their home opener on Friday night.
Superstar outfielder Mike Trout hit his second home run of the season, pummeling a fastball from Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt deep to left field.
The two-run shot gave the Angels a 2-0 lead at the time of this posting.
Trout is off to another sizzling start as the 31-year-old surefire Hall of Famer is hitting .400 with two homers and five RBIs. The Angels are out to a 4-2 start entering play on Friday as well.
Trout is among the game's greatest all-time players. At this juncture, he's a 10-time all-star, a nine-time silver slugger, a three-time MVP and a two-time All-Star game MVP. He was also named Rookie of the Year in the American League back in 2012.
With Trout and Shohei Ohtani at the center of the franchise, the Angels are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and are looking for their first playoff win since 2009.
The Angels good start is a good thing, too, because questions persist around the franchise about if they should trade Ohtani given that he's a free agent at the end of the year and risk losing him for nothing.
The team acquired free-agent pitchers Tyler Anderson, Matt Moore and Carlos Estevez, as well as outfielder Hunter Renfroe and infielder Gio Urshela this offseason with the intention of trying to make the playoffs.
