WATCH: Philadelphia Phillies' Bryce Harper Back on Field, Taking Live Batting Practice and Working at First Base

Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper continues to work his way back from Tommy John Surgery. On Tuesday as the Phillies get ready to take on the Chicago White Sox, Harper is on the field at Guaranteed Rate Field taking live batting practice and working at first base. It was recently announced that he would work at first base in an effort to get back to playing defense faster. You can see some footage of him swinging in this post, courtesy of ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Another step in the right direction for Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper.

As we told you last week, Harper would be on the field on Tuesday taking live batting practice.

He's doing just that on the field in Chicago, facing Phillies rehabbing lefty Ranger Suarez.

Jesse Rogers of ESPN has provided some video of Harper swinging against Suarez. All in all, Harper looks fairly comfortable in the box. He swung and missed at the first pitch, took the second, took the third and took the fourth. The Phillies had to make sure to wave off the music guy at Guaranteed Rate Field. You can watch the clips below:

Rogers also provided a picture of Harper take ground balls at first base, where it was recently announced that Harper would play in an effort to get back to the Phillies sooner.

This position change, at least for this year, makes sense. The Phillies have already lost Rhys Hoskins to a torn ACL and now have lost Darick Hall to an injury for at least two months. They have been using Kody Clemens and Alec Bohm at first base in certain situations.

Harper recently told 'The Athletic': “If I can give them whatever they want from first base, or right field, or whatever it is — not just this year, but going forward — it gives us an opportunity,” Harper said. “Whatever it is. Whatever they want. It gives them the option to do that.”

For his career, Harper is a .280 hitter with 285 home runs. He is a seven-time all-star who won the MVP award in both 2015 and 2021 in the National League.

He helped the Phillies advance to the World Series in 2022, where they lost to the Houston Astros in six games.

They are currently 6-10 to start the season.
