Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette hit the team's first home of the 2023 season on Monday night, blasting a solo home run in the ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals.

For as good as the Blue Jays offense is, it's amazing that the team didn't hit a home run for nearly four full games to start the year, but the drought is officially over.

Bichette hit a 94-mph fastball out to deep left field, past the outstretched jump of former gold glover Jackie Bradley Jr.

The 25-year old Bichette is one of the most talented players in all of baseball. He's coming off a season in which he led baseball in hits with 189 and posted 43 doubles to go along with 24 home runs and 93 RBI.

The Blue Jays won 92 games in 2022 to earn a wild card spot in the American League playoffs but were swept by the Mariners in that round. Armed with Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Matt Chapman and Alejandro Kirk on offense, there's no reason that the Jays shouldn't cash in once again in 2023.

The Blue Jays lost on Monday to the Royals, 9-5, and are now 1-3 on the season. The two teams will play again Tuesday at 7:40 p.m ET.
