Wife of New York Mets' Francisco Lindor Defends Him From Ex-Teammates Criticisms
Earlier this week, former Cleveland Guardians star Jason Kipnis seemingly took a swipe at former teammate Francisco Lindor's leadership skills. Now, Lindor's wife has entered the chat defending her husband.
Speaking on the "Foul Territory Podcast" with AJ Pierzynski, Kipnis was talking about the Mets struggles:
“All those veterans and no leadership," he said.
Pierzynski then specifically asked about Lindor's leadership, to which Kipnis replied: "I’ll say it again, all those veterans and no leadership."
Lindor shrugged off the comments in a pre-game session with the New York media on Friday, but his wife Katie Reguero Lindor made sure to get her thoughts out on social media saying:
My husband is such a classy person, would never say what a bully Kipnis was in the clubhouse. Sounds like a true leader versus the opposite of a leader
Lindor and Kipnis played together for five seasons in Cleveland and helped the Guardians get to the World Series in 2016.
He's a lifetime .275 hitter with 190 homers and 612 RBI. He's also stolen 129 bases in his career. Lindor is a four-time All-Star selection and a two-time Gold Glover. He led Major League Baseball in runs scored in 2018 (129) and received MVP votes in five separate seasons.
As for Kipnis, he spent 10 years in the major leagues, including nine with Cleveland and one with the Cubs. He was a lifetime .260 hitter with 126 homers and 545 RBIs.
The Guardians and Mets open up a series on Friday as Lindor gets to suit up against his former team.
