Young Kansas City Royals Fan Went Viral For Her Reaction to Walk-Off Grand Slam
Kansas City Royals young star Bobby Witt Jr. hit a walk-off grand slam on Friday night against the Minnesota Twins.
By doing so, he made or joined multiple instances of baseball history. We covered that here.
But in addition, he also made the night of one young Royals fan, who went viral for her reaction.
MLB.com researcher and baseball influencer Sarah Langs retweeted the video on social media that said the following:
All the way from Georgia to see her favorite player hit a walk-off grand slam. Literally brought her to tears. Record be damned. How can you not be romantic about baseball. @BwittJr
It's pretty hard to not be romantic about baseball after seeing that. That's what it's all about, even in the midst of a 30-75 season for Kansas City.
The 23-year-old Witt was one of the most hyped prospects in baseball when he debuted in 2022. His follow-up season has been impressive for the woeful Royals also. He's hitting .257 with 17 homers, 57 RBI and 29 stolen bases. He's posted a .747 OPS, and now has one extra-happy fan.
The Royals and Twins play again on Saturday night at Kauffman Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET as Twins starter Bailey Ober pitches against Royals righty Jordan Lyles.
Ober is 6-4 with a 2.76 ERA while Lyles is 1-12 with a 6.19 ERA.
Minnesota has lost three straight games and is now 54-51. They only lead the American League Central by 1.5 games entering play on Saturday.
