Colorado Rockies' 2023 Regular Season Schedule
The Colorado Rockies are now less than two months away from Opening Day.
The Rockies will open the 2023 season in San Diego, playing a four-game series against the Padres at Petco Park, before traveling to Los Angeles for a series with the Dodgers.
The Rockies will play their home opener at Coors Field Thurs., April 6 against the Washington Nationals, before the St. Louis Cardinals come to town. Then, the Rockies will travel to Seattle for a three-game series with the Mariners before playing host to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
For the first time ever, the Rockies will play a series against each of the other 29 Major League Baseball teams. All 30 teams will play a series against each other, for the first time in baseball history. The hope is that it will generate more fan interest, as star players from the opposite league will appear at the city's home ballpark every other year. Rockies fans will get a chance to see Los Angeles Angels stars play at Coors Field, when the Angels visit town in mid-June.
The schedule change will also provide help to teams that play in hypercompetitive divisions. The Rockies play in what is expected to be a relatively competitive National League West. The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a 111-win season. Two years ago, the San Francisco Giants won 107 games. The San Diego Padres defeated the Dodgers in the National League Division Series last fall, reaching their first NLCS since 1998. The Arizona Diamondbacks have a roster full of exciting young players, and many believe the D-Backs could be in the hunt for a playoff spot in 2023.
The Rockies are coming off a 68-win season in which they finished in last place in the NL West. With a healthy Kris Bryant returning to the club, the Rockies hope to improve significantly in 2023.
