Detroit Tigers' 2023 Official Regular Season Schedule
The Detroit Tigers are now less than two months away from Opening Day.
The Tigers will open the season the season in Tampa Bay, taking on the Rays at Tropicana Field. Then, they will travel to Houston to play the Astros.
The Tigers will play their home opener Thurs., April 6 against the Boston Red Sox, before traveling to Toronto to play the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. Then, they'll come back home to play host to the San Francisco Giants and Cleveland Guardians.
For the first time ever, the Tigers will play a series against each of the other 29 Major League Baseball teams. All 30 teams will play a series against each other, for the first time in baseball history. The hope is that it will generate more fan interest, as star players from the opposite league will appear at the city's home ballpark every other year. Tigers fans will get a chance to see San Diego Padres stars Xander Bogaerts, Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. play at Comerica Park when the Padres come to town in mid-July.
The schedule change will also provide help to teams that play in hypercompetitive divisions. It will not aid teams like the Tigers, who might be playing in the American League's weakest division, the American League Central, in 2023.
The Tigers are coming off a 66-win season in which they finished fourth in the AL Central. They have not made the postseason since 2014. With Scott Harris taking over the Tigers' front office, the club hopes to turn a corner in the near future.
Here's a look at the Tigers' entire schedule for the 2023 season:
