Pittsburgh Pirates' 2023 Official Regular Season Schedule
The Pittsburgh Pirates are now less than two months away from Opening Day.
The Pirates will open the season in Cincinnati, playing the Reds at the Great American Ballpark, before traveling to Fenway Park for a series with the Boston Red Sox.
The Pirates will play their home opener Friday, April 7, when the Chicago White Sox come to town. Then, they will play host to the 2022 World Series champion Houston Astros, before traveling to St. Louis and Colorado for series with the Cardinals and Rockies.
For the first time ever, the Pirates will play a series against each of the other 29 Major League Baseball teams. All 30 teams will play a series against each other, for the first time in baseball history. The hope is that it will generate more fan interest, as star players from the opposite league will appear at the city's home ballpark every other year. Pirates fans will get a chance to see Aaron Judge play when the New York Yankees come to town in mid-September.
The schedule change will also provide help to teams that play in hypercompetitive divisions. It will not aid teams like the Pirates, who might be playing in baseball's weakest division, the National League Central, in 2023.
The Pirates are coming off a season in which they lost 100 games. With a promising group of young players, they hope to show significant improvement in 2023. 2013 National League MVP and fan favorite Andrew McCutchen signed a one-year deal to return to the Pirates.
Here's a look at the Pirates' entire schedule for the 2023 season:
