Tampa Bay Rays' 2023 Official Regular Season Schedule
The Tampa Bay Rays are now less than two months away from Opening Day.
The Rays will open the season against the Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field, before traveling to Washington D.C. for a series with the Nationals. They will then return to Tampa Bay for a seven-game home-stand, when they host the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.
For the first time ever, the Rays will play a series against each of the other 29 Major League Baseball teams. All 30 teams will play a series against each other, for the first time in baseball history. The hope is that it will generate more fan interest, as star players from the opposite league will appear at the city's home ballpark every other year. Rays fans will get a chance to see St. Louis Cardinals stars Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt in mid-August, when the Cardinals come to town.
The schedule change will also provide help to teams that play in hypercompetitive divisions. The Rays play in an extremely competitive American League East. Four of the five teams in the division finished 2022 with a winning record. All five teams hope to compete this season.
The Rays are coming off an 86-76 season in which they received the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League. The club won the American League East in 2020 and 2021, and hopes to reclaim another division title in 2023.
Here's a look at the Rays' entire schedule for the 2023 regular season:
