Jake Paul's Next Fight Revealed, Fights Golden Gloves Champ in March 2024
The next step in Jake Paul's professional boxing career is underway, and it takes place in San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 2.
Paul's opponent is 17-2-0 retired American boxer Ryan Bourland. Bourland is a former Golden Gloves champion, National Junior Olympian, and two-time GBO Light Heavyweight champion.
This will be Paul's first appearance since his statement knockout victory over Andre August in December 2023. The bout is set to be eight rounds and will be the co-main event to Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke.
This suits Paul's new approach to boxing. "The Problem Child" wants to become a world champion, and is fighting "for experience."
"I beat a pro boxer in December in the first round," Paul said in a press release. ".... I'm fighting for experience, not for the money, and to show my love for this beautiful island I’ll be donating my entire fight purse from this event to my nonprofit Boxing Bullies to help renovate gyms across Puerto Rico."
Bourland, on the other hand, plans to "shock the world."
"Jake Paul steps into the ring with his social media clout," Bourland said. "But let’s not mistake followers for experience or skill. While he’s been busy chasing likes, I’ve been honing my craft for years, stepping into the ring and beating real boxers. On Saturday, March 2 I will shock the world and put an end to Jake Paul’s boxing career."
Paul's slow ascent to boxing legitimacy takes its next step in March 2024.
