Boxing News: Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Francis Ngannou in Devastating Fashion
Anthony Joshua has successfully defended the sport of boxing by knocking out Francis Ngannou in the second round of their Riyadh super fight.
After some tentative action in round one, Joshua landed a crisp right hand which sat Ngannou down --- marking his first-ever career knockdown in MMA and boxing. Joshua scored another right-hand knockdown in round two as Ngannou threw a lazy jab. After the eight count, Joshua stormed in once more with a stunning right hand which put Ngannou's lights completely out.
With this victory, Joshua puts himself in line to face the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury on May 18. Usyk and Fury will be fighting to become the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in the last 25 years - since the days of Lennox Lewis.
Joshua's current four-fight streak is likely his last claim to become a champion, and a loss against either Usyk or Fury could spell the end of his time at the top.
Regardless of the result, Ngannou is still set to face Renan Ferreira for his PFL debut sometime in 2024.
