Ryan Bourland: Everything to Know About Jake Paul's Next Fight
Jake Paul's next opponent has been revealed. Ryan Bourland is an unfamiliar name for the majority of fight fans, but the California-born fighter is a relative step up in competition for Paul.
Influencer-turned-boxer Paul is keen to build his way to world title contention, and the conventional path for many boxers is to fight smaller names to build a good record; Paul appears to be following this path. It still bears the question, who is Ryan "The Rhino" Bourland?
Who is Ryan Bourland?
Bourland is a semi-retired professional cruiserweight boxer. He is a former Golden Gloves champion, National Junior Olympian, and two-time GBO Light Heavyweight champion.
Boxing for Bourland was more than just a choice, it was how he stayed on the right path:
"I started boxing when I was 11... [At] the age of 15, my parents got divorced," Bourland said. "I stopped boxing and started getting into a lot of trouble and was arrested many times until the age of 22. I got back into boxing and havent been in trouble since." Quote h/t BENICIA.
It was boxing that got Bourland back on track from a rocky history:
“I had gained a lot of weight – I was about 250 pounds…at the gym I started losing weight, getting strong, and taking control of my life," Bourland explained." ....The gym got me away from people I knew I should not hang out with. .... I started feeling a lot better about myself,” Quote h/t Inside The Ropes.
