60% of Dillon Danis' Fights Get Cancelled
Controversial combat sports personality Dillon Danis has garnered a reputation for inconsistency in recent years. Known as "El Jefe," he has only amassed a professional record of 2-0. Despite his limited experience in the ring, Danis has managed to gain considerable exposure thanks to his bold trash-talking and involvement in the influencer scene. However, it appears that his fights rarely materialize as promised.
As of the time of writing, Danis is just eight days away from his scheduled boxing match against Logan Paul. Yet, even now, the certainty of this matchup hangs in the balance, as Danis drops hints about the possibility of pulling out in posts made to X.
Now, let's delve deeper into Danis' career and recap the numerous occasions on which his fights have been canceled:
Danis initially made his mark in the world of grappling before transitioning to professional MMA. His debut took place at Bellator 198 in 2018, where he secured a victory in the first round with a toe hold submission.
Cancelled Bout at Bellator 221 - 11/05/2019
Following his debut, Danis' next scheduled bout for Bellator 221 was canceled, only to be rescheduled for Bellator 222. Danis won via a first-round armbar submission. However, this marked the conclusion of his professional MMA career.
Cancelled Bout at Bellator 238 - 25/01/2020
Danis pulled out of his third professional bout with an injury. The grappler needed surgery on his LCL and meniscus on his right knee. He told ESPN that he wasn't expecting to be on the shelf for very long.
Cancelled Boxing Match With KSI - 14/01/2023
Four years later, Danis infamously pulled out of his first influencer boxing match with KSI just 10 days prior to the bout. Misfits boxing promoter Mams Taylor stated Danis' reasons for pulling out were being "underprepared" and weight struggles.
"Why wouldn't I show up? It's the stupidest thing ever," Danis remarked on The MMA Hour prior to the fight.
Precarious Boxing Match With Logan Paul - October 2023
Danis left no stone unturned in his efforts to promote his fight with Logan Paul, and he witnessed a substantial increase in his social media following.
This surge in popularity came on the heels of a controversial smear campaign in which he targeted Nina Agdal, the fiancée of Paul, with a relentless stream of sensitive and private images of the Danish model - posted straight to Danis' social platforms on a near-daily basis.
"He's gonna thank me, I swear to God he's gonna thank me. I'm telling you, they're gonna be divorced and he's gonna thank me," Danis exclaimed on 'The MMA Hour'.
As a result, Danis received a lawsuit and restraining order from Paul and Agdal. Agdal claimed some of the materials being shared were from a hacked Snapchat account, and she is seeking $150,000 per violation.
"I didn't sign up for a sue-off, I signed up for a boxing match. F*** this nonsense," Danis alluded to pulling out on X. "Logan bragging about lawsuits again he isn’t built for the fight game, this p**** doesn’t deserve me I’m out," Danis remarked in another post.
Danis has since insisted that his comments weren't serious.
If the Danis vs. Paul fight does get cancelled on short-notice, Danis will have a 66.66% (⅔) cancellation rate in six scheduled professional bouts. As Paul has stated, "[Danis] knows that pulling out AGAIN would guarantee no fighter, fight organization, or legit brand will ever work with him because he’s an unreliable liar."
Here's hoping the fight can go ahead after such a heated buildup.
