Aljamain Sterling's Interesting Statement On His Future In UFC Bantamweight Division
Aljamain Sterling has weighed in on his potential options after losing the UFC Bantamweight Championship to Sean O'Malley.
Sterling suffered a second-round TKO loss to "Sugar" at UFC 292 on August 19. Despite holding the record for the most successful consecutive UFC bantamweight title defenses, many are doubting "Funk Master" will get an immediate rematch. O'Malley has said his next title challenger hasn't been decided, although he would like to get a chance to avenge his lone career loss against Marlon "Chito" Vera.

During an episode of "The Weekly Scraps," Aljamain Sterling pondered his future at bantamweight. He started by mentioning how excited he would be if his teammate Merab Dvalishvili got a chance to capture the 135-pound gold.
"I think it would be a great opportunity for Merab to get a title shot and to become the first Georgian champion," Sterling said. "I think that'd be huge for him and his country, it would be huge for us and our team, and of course, that would put me in limbo. I know people are gonna be like, 'Well, where does that leave you, Aljo?' Maybe I stick around at '35, take like a fight or two, and then maybe I explore '45, or maybe I go right to '45. Let's just see how things shape up before we just kind of start jumping to conclusions and getting all crazy with this other stuff."
Dvalishvili said he'd be willing to wait for over a year to challenge O'Malley for the bantamweight gold. He recently clarified to Aaron Bronsteter that if he was offered to fight O'Malley this December, he'd take the fight.
