Chael Sonnen Shares Advice For Champion Jon Jones Following UFC 295
As the fight world gives Tom Aspinall his flowers for capturing the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship, Chael Sonnen shares some advice with the main champion Jon Jones.
Jones was expected to headline UFC 295 in his first heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic. That plan went by the wayside as Jones suffered a torn pectoral tendon and was forced off the card. As a result, Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich was booked for the interim gold. Aspinall starched Pavlovich in one minute and nine seconds.
Dana White SHUTS DOWN major Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic rumor
Jones had hinted at retiring before he was forced out of UFC 295. He teased that ending his career inside Madison Square Garden in New York City might be the perfect way to cap things off.
At the moment, there's no word on if Jones plans to continue his fighting career beyond his eventual clash with Miocic. Chael Sonnen has taken to his YouTube channel to urge Jon Jones not to chase younger elite fighters such as Tom Aspinall solely because of a potential narrative that "Bones" ducked an opponent.
"There is not a scenario where Jon Jones, regardless of success or victories, there is not a scenario that when he leaves this sport a narrative of, 'He left without fighting that guy,' doesn't exist. Right now, that guy's Tom Aspinall, but one week ago it was Sergei Pavlovich, and eight days before that it was Francis Ngannou. So, the only constant denominator that you have to know if you're Jon is you're never gonna beat that headline, don't even try. Fight the easiest guy for the most money and do it every time."
