David Benavidez Stops Demetrius Andrade, Sets Stage For Canelo Alvarez Fight (Video)
David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade is history.
Benavidez and Andrade collided in the main event of a Showtime Boxing PPV card held on November 25. The action emanated from the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both men were going into this matchup with undefeated pro boxing records. Benavidez was putting his WBC interim super middleweight championship at stake. With a win, Benavidez would slotted as Canelo Alvarez's mandatory WBC super middleweight title challenger.
In the end, Benavidez's punching power and pressure were just too much for Andrade.

Benavidez swung heavy leather early. Andrade targeted the body. A straight left hand to the body was there for Andrade. Benavidez returned fire with a straight right downstairs. Andrade ended the opening frame with a combination.
Andrade went high and low early in the second stanza. Andrade blocked an overhand right. Benavidez was blitzed by a combo from Andrade. It was clear early on that Andrade looked to bully his opponent in the clinch.
In round three, Andrade continued to pressure Benavidez with combinations and shoving him against the ropes. Benavidez put his foot on the gas more, landing a jab and a right hand. Andrade had a combination in response, which was blocked, but did back Benavidez to the ropes.
An accidental low blow from Benavidez connected and the action was briefly halted at the start of round four. An uppercut got in for Benavidez. Andrade appeared to be feeling the punching power of Benavidez. A right hand connected for Benavidez. A big right hand dropped Andrade near the end of the fourth round. "Boo Boo" got back to his feet and the round came to a close.
Benavidez stormed forward in the fifth round and landed another heavy right hand. Andrade continued moving and throwing out the jab in an effort to survive. He hung on for dear life. Benavidez continued his relentless pressure. Andrade was wobbled on the feet from the combos of Benavidez.
A ringside doctor checked on Andrade before round six began. Andrade was warned by the referee that he has to show him signs of life in the fight. Benavidez was hit with a right uppercut. Benavidez knocked the mouthpiece out of Andrade a second time. Round six ended and the referee checked on Andrade before the corner stopped the fight.
After the victory, Benavidez called for a showdown with Canelo.
