Drunk UFC Fighter Robbed at Gunpoint in San Francisco
Ranked UFC bantamweight fighter Song Yadong revealed that he and a friend were robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco on August 2.
Yadong made the revelation in a video uploaded to Douyin on August 3, and a translated version was released on the same date :
"For the first time in my life. I was held at gunpoint," Yadong impersonated a gun with his fingers. "Last night, my friend and I drove back to Sacramento from San Francisco. On the way back, we were robbed by four black men at gunpoint."
Yadong didn't disclose whether he was scared or not, just that he was "a little drunk," going on to explain how his friend was the designated driver and they stopped at a gas station to buy Yadong some water:
"Then he drove around and looked at a couple of gas stations that were dark, and then he went to the one with the brightest lights. When we got there, those four black people who robbed us were already there.
"They [were not] following us. [They were] waiting for [a] victim. They're all set. Hoods on. License plate blocked."
Yadong explained how his friend was held at gunpoint after exiting the car to buy water:
"The man told him to hand over his money, his wallet, his necklace, and hit him with the handle of his gun," Yadong described. "...Whether the robber has a knife or a gun, give him the money right away. Don't interact with him too much. If he gets mad and shoots you, you're screwed"
Thankfully, both Yadong and his friend appear to be fine.
Who is Song Yadong Fighting Next?
In light of his TKO stoppage of Ricky Simon back in April, Yadong has his eyes on a few opponents for his re-entry to title contention.
Yadong called out three big names at his UFC post-fight press conference in April:
"I wanna fight top-five fighters," Yadong remarked. "Even [Rob] Font... and [Marlon] Chito [Vera] and Sean O'Malley."
Unfortunately for Yadong, all three of these men are booked, with Font fighting Cory Sandhagen on August 5, Vera fighting Pedro Munhoz on August 19, and O'Malley competing for the bantamweight title also on August 19.
Otherwise, potential ranked opponents include: Dominick Cruz, Umar Nurmagomedov, or Petr Yan.
