An update has surfaced on the eye of UFC heavyweight Justin Tafa.

This past Saturday (June 24), Tafa shared the Octagon with Austen Lane. This one didn't end the way either fighter envisioned. Just 29 seconds into the fight, Lane caught Tafa with a nasty accidental eye poke. Tafa couldn't continue and the fight was ruled a no contest.

The eye injury looked fairly brutal, as Tafa was bleeding out of his eye and the swelling was obvious.

Shortly after the bout, Tafa said that the bout result should be changed to a disqualification victory. Lane took to social media to apologize for the accidental foul, and wished Tafa a speedy recovery.

Tafa has since taken to his Instagram account to provide a positive update on his eye.

"Want to make a big shoutout to the UFC staff for getting me to the hospital straight after the fight was called. Cleared of any major damage to both eyes but both eyes did suffer some damage. Right eye still in some pain, sensitive to light and blurred vision on the but I thank God nothing that was going to end my career or cause serious damage to my eye.

"Thank you all for your concern sorry I couldn’t put on a show on but I’ll be back soon fam. I see all your messages couldn’t get back to you all but know I see them all."
