UFC color commentator Joe Rogan believes Khamzat Chimaev would've had a title shot by now if it wasn't for one key blunder.

Chimaev is a rising star, who has competed in the welterweight and middleweight divisions. His next outing will be contested at 185 pounds. "Borz" will meet Paulo Costa in a grudge match at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi on October 21. Some believe Chimaev may secure a UFC title shot if he can get past "Borrachinha."

While Chimaev remains in a good spot with the UFC, Rogan feels the situation could've been even better for "Borz" if not for the UFC 279 fiasco. Chimaev was expected to fight Nate Diaz on that card, but plans changed when he missed weight by over seven pounds. As a result, Diaz fought Tony Ferguson, while Chimaev shared the Octagon with Kevin Holland.

On his podcast, Joe Rogan shared his belief that the scale fail caused Khamzat Chimaev to miss out on a UFC championship opportunity sooner.

"Khamzat really f***** up when he didn't make weight against Nate Diaz, because if he made weight against Nate Diaz and has a great showing against Nate Diaz, that guy's got the next title shot," Rogan said. "He's a f****** star, he's just got that thing."
