Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion. The future non-fight wing Hall of Famer is set to put his gold on the line against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295 on November 11. There has been much speculation over what "Bones" will do next following the title fight. Jones has even hinted in the past that ending his career in Madison Square Garden could be the perfect way to make his exit from pro MMA competition.
Despite the rumors, Rogan won't dismiss the possibility that Jones will continue to fight. In fact, he took things a step further.
Rogan is well aware of the lost heavyweight tilt between Jones and Francis Ngannou. "The Predator" had been the UFC heavyweight champion, but vacated the gold after he and the UFC could not come to terms on a new deal. Ngannou has since signed with rival promotion PFL.
Taking to "The Joe Rogan Experience," the longtime voice of UFC broadcasts shared his belief that all hope is not lost on a potential Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight.
"It can happen," Rogan said. "Francis has his contract with the PFL. Let's say he fights out his contract, let's say he fights Tyson Fury, then he fights out his contract, and then at the end of the contract the UFC offers him a giant chunk of money to fight Jon Jones. So, let's say if Jon Jones fights Stipe, who knows who wins that fight, right? Then, maybe if he wins, Jon Jones fights Sergei Pavlovich, who's a very scary guy who's coming through the ranks. Tom Aspinall, so maybe it's Tom Aspinall. If Jon Jones wins all those, and Francis wins in the PFL and then leaves, then they can have another fight. That would be bonkers."
As Rogan mentioned, Ngannou is gearing up for a boxing match with WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. The WBC gold will not be at stake.
