John Fury Reacts to Francis Ngannou's Mike Tyson Boxing Video: 'I Hope That's a Joke'
John Fury finds Francis Ngannou's open-workout video to be nothing short of a "joke," and he's sincerely hoping that Ngannou is simply "kidding along" in the lead-up to his highly-anticipated super fight against Tyson Fury on October 28.
The Cameroonian-French fighter showcased his training regimen in a live video on September 26, all while receiving guidance and oversight from all-time-great boxing icon, "Iron" Mike Tyson.
"Big John" Fury wasn't impressed, however, and was keen to denigrate Ngannou and Tyson in a video uploaded to his Instagram on September 27:
"Just seen Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson... and that so called trainer who's got the pads on," Fury remarked. "Seen the open workout --- I hope he's kidding along and he's playing possum here --- I hope that's a joke and intended to be a laugh.
"Because if it's not... he ain't got a prayer, he got no chance. He won't get out of the first round - he's probably gonna be Tyson [Fury's] quickest knockout.
"...It's gotta be kidology that, it's gotta be fun and games because if that's what he's got... well God help him he'll get smashed to bits. ...That's embarrassing, if that's what he can do on a public workout - don't bother doing a public workout, it's a disgrace."
Fury's assessment of the footage contradicts his previous statements about the fight. In an interview with 'Seconds Out' on September 1, he expressed his anticipation for the upcoming bout, foreseeing it as "a battle royale":
"I hold [Ngannou] in the highest esteem. ...Because he's a world champion at his game, he's taken on the best in the world, he's taking it seriously, and I do believe he's gonna bring the smoke.
"...[Tyson's] not gonna come out unscathed. ...He's gonna get knocked about, Tyson, he knows that. Exhibition my backside.
"...[Ngannou's] got Mike Tyson there, he wants to impress Mike Tyson, Francis does. Tyson [Fury] has got an ego as big as Morecambe, so the stage is set for a battle royale."
