Ex-UFC Title Challenger Thinks Jon Jones Was Given Poor Advice Ahead Of UFC 295

The UFC legend feels Jones is being led astray.

Is Jon Jones listening to poor advice?

One former UFC veteran certainly seems to think so, and he feels it's doing the build to UFC 295 little favors. Jones will be headlining the card on November 11. He'll put the UFC Heavyweight Championship on the line against Stipe Miocic.

Ahead of the fight, Jones has teased that this could be the last bout of his pro MMA career. He even said he can't think of a better way to end his career than retaining the heavyweight gold inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Chael Sonnen, a former opponent of Jones, took to his YouTube channel and questioned who gave "Bones" the idea to hint at retirement.

"I'm sincerely wondering what's going on here because there's much better marketing minds," Sonnen said. "Jon has access to me. One text message I'll lay this whole thing out for him, make him millions of dollars. Who is it that he turned to and gave him the advice to act as though this is gonna be your last fight? We're now gonna threaten the fans. We're threatening them, 'Buy this, come to this, support this. It's the last one, I'm never getting another one, you better be here at this one.' Who is it that gave that rotten idea?"

Sonnen also expressed his belief that UFC 295 will not be the final time fight fans see Jon Jones inside the Octagon. "The American Gangster" doesn't feel teasing retirement is a smart strategy because fans will simply move on to their next favorite fighter.
