PFL founder & chairman Donn Davis has drawn comparisons between the UFC and the iconic video-rental chain Blockbuster.

In a Tweet on May 22, Davis alluded that the situation between the  UFC and the 'Professional Fighter's League' (PFL) was similar to that of Blockbuster and Netflix before Netflix's well-known ascent.

""Netflix is not even on our radar screen in terms of competition." Blockbuster CEO 2008.

""What PFL is doing makes no sense to me." UFC President 2023."

Davis' Tweet was a direct response to remarks made by UFC President Dana White at the UFC Vegas 73 presser on May 21.

White exclaimed that Francis Ngannou signing to the PFL "makes no sense to me," and went on to question their business savvy, as well as their funding and where it was coming from:

"I have no beef with the PFL," White remarked. "I mean these guys have always been super professional and never talked any smack --- you know me --- If I don't like you, I don't hold back I'll let you have it.

"What they're doing makes no sense to me, their business strategy. I'm hearing that they're raising money right now... $280million, $300million, I don't know what the number is, from the Middle East.

"I've done a lot of business in the Middle East, those guys are sharp, I don't know who the hell would give [the PFL] $280million because I'm hearing they're buying Bellator [scoffs], right?

"So you're an organization that's burning cash, [you] have no ratings and [you're] selling no tickets, and you're going to raise $280million to buy a company that's burning cash, that sells no tickets and does no ratings. Sounds f***ing absolutely genius to me."

As the PFL continues its growth and development, striking landmark deals like the signing of Ngannou, fight fans eagerly await the unfolding battle between these two colossal organizations.

Witnessing how these MMA giants compete and adapt promises a riveting spectacle for fans. Ultimately, competition proves advantageous for UFC enthusiasts, igniting the need for transformative changes within the sport.
