Roy Jones Jr. Admits He Doesn't Like Idea Of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk

Jones isn't a fan of the potential title unification bout.

Roy Jones Jr. isn't exactly clamoring for Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury and Usyk hold the main world titles in boxing's heavyweight division. Fury is the WBC titleholder, while Usyk has the WBA, IBF, and WBO gold. Usyk is also the IBO and The Ring champion. Fury is scheduled to have a boxing match with Francis Ngannou on October 28, while Usyk is fresh off a ninth-round knockout victory over Daniel Dubois.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk meet in person, stoking the flames for a potential boxing heavyweight title unification bout.

There was some controversy from the Usyk vs. Dubois fight. In the fifth round, Usyk was dropped by a punch that was ruled a low blow. There has been heated debate over whether or not the punch was actually clean.

Taking to his YouTube channel, Roy Jones Jr. shared his belief that Usyk's reaction to the punch may not bode well for him against elite heavyweights who can target the body, such as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

"I don't like the fight, still," Jones said. "I never liked the fight back then, and I still don't like the fight now. The reason being is because the Dubois fight happened the way it happened, now there's a question. If Deontay Wilder catches Usyk with a body shot like that and it's legal, what might happen? If it wasn't borderline from what some people think, then he may have gotten counted out. So, what if a real fighter does catch him with a body shot like that when he's not ready for it that's not borderline? What happens? So, that opens the gate to a lot more opportunities for guys that can punch."

While Jones feels Fury may be able to exploit the body of Usyk, he still isn't interested in the fight. The International Boxing Hall of Famer doesn't believe fans will appreciate a chess match between the two since they are both heavyweights.

"We don't want to see technical fights," Jones said. "We want to see you knock him out or he knocks you out fights. That's what the heavyweight division is all about."
