The dust has settled between Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira at UFC 291.

The two former UFC champions went one-on-one in the co-headliner for UFC 291. This was a crucial fight in the light heavyweight division, as the 205-pound title is currently vacant. Both men were hoping to put on an impressive performance that will lead to another championship opportunity.

It was clear early on that Blachowicz looked to apply the same strategy he used on Pereira's rival, Israel Adesanya. The Polish powerhouse used his takedowns to thwart the striking of "Poatan."

In the opening frame, Blachowicz got a hold of his opponent's back. He went for the rear-naked choke, but Pereira defended it well enough to see the second stanza.

Blachowicz once again went to the grappling in round two. He dumped his opponent down to the mat, but Pereira was able to get back up. That's when Pereira poured on the offense on the feet and bloodied his opponent's nose near the end of the round.

In the third round, both men swung leather. A left hook was there for Pereira, followed by a jab to the body. Blachowicz took his opponent down with about 40 seconds left in the fight.

The fight went the distance, and Pereira was awarded the split nod.
