This victory marks Inoue's 25th professional victory and his 22nd knockout. The former undisputed bantamweight champion, Inoue moved up to super-bantamweight to challenge Fulton for the WBC and WBO titles, and is now successfully the unified super-bantamweight world champion.

In his post-fight speech, Inoue apologized to Fulton's team for his injury which delayed the fight. The Japanese star went on to face off with WBA & IBF Super-Bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales, who remarked that he'd like to fight Inoue for undisputed status. Inoue accepted the callout and replied that he'd like to do it this year.

This is the fight to make for Inoue if he'd like to pursue his second undisputed status in a new weight class. Though some larger names like WBO champion John Riel Casimero could be more enticing. On the other hand, Inoue could still try his hand in a heavier weight class such as featherweight; his performance against Fulton certainly demonstrated an ability to push his limits further.
