WWE has started a significant injury angle one month prior to WrestleMania 40 weekend.

The company, and the pro wrestling industry in general, has never been shy running injury angles. There is even an ongoing storyline where WWE NXT wrestler Ridge Holland is injuring his opponents, while insisting he isn't causing serious harm on purpose.

In this case, it's a current champion who has been taken out of action by a fed up challenger.

WWE Makes Major Seth Rollins Announcement For WrestleMania 40 Weekend

During the "Roadblock" edition of NXT earlier tonight, NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria was viciously attacked by Roxanne Perez, who is now a full-blown heel. Roxanne ended up injuring the champion's arm. The attack occurred after Lyra and Tatum Paxley failed to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships from The Kabuki Warriors.

Later on in the show, Valkyria was shown being taken from the arena in an ambulance.

WWE NXT play-by-play commentator Vic Joseph laid out the possibility that Lyra suffered a broken arm. Valkyria was even telling medical staff inside the ring that she thought her arm was out of the socket.

All signs appear to be leading to a massive showdown between Perez and Lyra at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 6, just hours before night one of WrestleMania 40 begins. The match hasn't been officially announced, but it could very well be in the coming weeks before the biggest event of the year for WWE's developmental brand.

It is now clear that Roxanne Perez will do whatever it takes to win back NXT gold, and that is bad news for the women's locker room.
