A status update for one injured WWE superstar has surfaced.

Recently, an episode of WWE SmackDown had to undergo a significant change. Going into the Elimination Chamber 2024 PLE event in Perth, Australia, there were a series of qualifying matches on both the men's and women's side. On this past Monday's episode of WWE Raw, the final women's qualifying match was a battle royal won by the returning Raquel Rodriguez.

As for that SmackDown change, it was due what appears to have been a serious injury to a key WWE superstar, and now there is an update.

PWInsider reports that word floating around backstage at WWE Raw last night was that Shotzi, who suffered a major knee injury during an NXT taping, visited Birmingham, Alabama to get medically checked. The report noted that the former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion will likely need surgery.

Shotzi had been factored into plans for WWE SmackDown last week prior to her injury. She was scheduled to meet Tiffany Stratton in a women's Elimination Chamber qualifying match. Stratton ended up facing Zelina Vega, while Naomi went one-on-one with Alba Fyre. Stratton and Naomi advanced to this Saturday's show.

It was an NXT Women's Championship match against titleholder Lyra Valkyria where Shotzi injured her knee. That episode is set to air tonight on the USA Network in the United States, and it figures to be heavily edited since initial plans went out the window.

Once again, MMA Knockout wishes Shotzi all the best on her road to recovery.
