The news that the PFL had acquired Bellator late last year was one of the biggest MMA headlines in recent memory, and the move was made all the more impactful by the fact that the promotion also spent the early part of the year signing massive free agents like Francis Ngannou.
The main and co-main events of this weekend’s first PFL vs. Bellator card feature heavyweight titleholders Renan Ferreira and Ryan Bader as well as middleweight champions Impa Kasanganay and Johnny Eblen.
The winner of those bouts will get a brand new belt wrapped around their waists once the action ends.
The card was also supposed to feature two other title bouts for the featherweight and welterweight belts, but the defending PFL champions Jesus Pinedo and Magomed Magomedkerimov were both forced to withdraw from the event.

Bellator welterweight king Jason Jackson was subsequently rebooked to take on former PFL tournament winner Ray Cooper III in a catchweight bout.
In addition to some of the biggest names from the PFL and Bellator one of the major talks points heading into the card is the pro debut of Muhammad Ali's grandson Biaggio Ali Walsh against Emmanuel Palacio.
It’s still somewhat unclear how long Bellator will continue to operate as a semi-independent organization, but the first PFL vs. Bellator event is certainly a stacked card that should command the attention of the combat sports world this weekend.
