Conor McGregor Shares New 'Inspired' Training Footage for His Next UFC Fight

Conor McGregor is focused and prepared for his 2024 comeback.

Conor McGregor looks reinvigorated ahead of his heavily anticipated 2024 UFC return.

"The Notorious" shared four new clips to his X account on November 26, showing off his speed, power, slimmed down physique and focused demeanor:

"Sunday work with the team, inspired," McGregor announced.

McGregor appeared to be working on his slip counters from his usual southpaw position. In the first clip, he slips a step in jab by hitting a straight left to the torso and coming over the top with a right hook. Everything is done in repetition.

The second clip is slower, McGregor slips a 2-1 from his partner before hitting a right body hook and straight left to the head.

In clip #3, McGregor baits a right cross from his partner by posting off of their guard with his lead hand and looping a left body shoot underneath. He slips the cross and returns fire with a smashing left hook. In clip #4, McGregor works exclusively on doubling up his body hooks.

McGregor's return opponent is most likely going to be Michael Chandler, an explosive power puncher with a solid wrestling base. Chandler's patented punch is his power right cross from the orthodox position, something which he used to great effect in his Bellator career.

Chandler's style relies on reactiveness and explosivity, so McGregor's drills appear to be based on drawing a reaction and countering appropriately. This is the case with clip #3 where his training partner is throwing that same right cross which Chandler is known for.

McGregor will also have a three inch height advantage, as well as a considerable reach advantage. Chandler will have to close the distance with footwork and feints if he wants to land his shots. McGregor is working on this in clip #1 where his training partner is standing at a distance before leaping in with a jab.

From appearances alone it would seem that McGregor is focused and prepared for his 2024 comeback.
