Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 3: Both Fighters Confirm Plans for UFC Trilogy Rematch
Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz have each confirmed that a trilogy rematch in the UFC is on the cards.
The common consensus is that a trilogy fight between the two is on the rocks if Diaz is shut down by Jake Paul in their fight on August 5. Even prominent MMA-pundits like Michael Bisping have declared that Diaz' stock will drop with a defeat.

McGregor defied this narrative in a deleted Tweet from August 2, remarking that "regardless of that nonsense match" between Diaz and Jake Paul, "me and Nate will be completing the trilogy":
"Regardless of that nonsense match me and Nate will be completing the trilogy. I am going to go grab that BMF belt right quick for us to compete for in the trilogy."

Diaz appeared on the August 2 episode of "The FULL SEND PODCAST" where he confirmed plans for a trilogy with McGregor:
"100% [another McGregor fight happens,]" Diaz muttered. "I'm ready to see him get back and do something cool too."
Diaz went on to mention that the Michael Chandler fight is "probably not gonna happen," before returning to his potential trilogy fight:
"...It would be cool if he got back in there, though, and handled some s***, that'd be tight. Not a lot of people are doing much in there. So It's cool, it would be bigger s***, better s***... different s***"
Diaz vs. McGregor 3 would arguably be the biggest fight the UFC could make since Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor back in 2018. Whether the allure of the fight is the same since the two have developed a sense of comradery remains yet to be seen.
For the time being, both fighters have their own obstacles to overcome. For Diaz, that's Paul on August 5; for McGregor it's a clean drug test.
