UFC CEO Dana White said he was impressed with Alex Pereira's performance over Jiri Prochazka Saturday night, so much so that Pereira's next fight is all but a done deal.

Enter Jamahal Hill, who was forced to relinquish his light heavyweight title in July after rupturing his Achilles tendon. Although there is no timetable for his return, White said at the UFC 295 post-fight press conference that he'd like to target Hill as Pereira's first title defense.

"Jamahal Hill, when he's ready, that's the fight that makes sense," White said.

White said Hill's recovery is going as planned but didn't elaborate further.

Hill won the title from Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 after the promotion scrambled to keep the division moving in the aftermath of the then-vacant title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Błachowicz a month prior, which ended in a draw.

Hill was tabbed to fight before the end of the year, but the injury has kept him sidelined since, which is how Prochazka vs. Pereira was made for Saturday night.

After years of consistency with Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier at the top, the division has seen an interesting shift, as three new champions have been crowned since the middle of 2022, with the potential for more changes.

Nonetheless, the division keeps moving, as Brazil will once again represent the division entering 2024, which will see the UFC host its 300th event in April, among other evolutions that may arise. For now, though, it's Pereira's division.
