Joe Pyfer's first UFC main event did not go as envisioned.

Falling via unanimous decision to No. 11 middleweight Jack Hermansson (24-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC), Pyfer, who was unbeaten with three UFC wins entering the bout, was left anguished.

Pyfer released a video after the loss. Bruised and battered, he spoke on what went wrong, his lack of vision, and sent a message to anyone who still doubted his fighting ability.

"“I just want to say I’m okay, despite how my face looks,” Pyfer said. (H/T MMAMania) “I wasn’t rocked. I got punched in the eyeball, I couldn’t see. He did a good job on the calf. I feel like when I lost vision, I failed that round — I lost that round — and then just I couldn’t get it back, and then he did a good job on the calf. To all my haters, suck a fat d***. I wasn’t supposed to be here anyway. I give it 100 percent every time, and yeah, we’ll make adjustments, and we’ll come back. Thank you to all my sponsors. Thank you to everybody who supports me. And yeah, good job, Jack.”

The victory for Hermansson continued a pattern of winning one fight and losing another, which has been a trend since September 2019. It was also Hermansson's first UFC victory since July 2022, where he defeated Chris Curtis unanimously on the judges' scorecards.

Hermansson may join a crowded middleweight top 10, which recently saw Dricus du Plessis become the new champion, defeating Sean Strickland by decision in UFC 297's main event.
