Michael Chandler Welcomes Colby Covington as Potential Opponent for Future TUF Season
UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler believes coaching against Colby Covington on 'The Ultimate Fighter' would be a "great idea". "Iron" Mike answered fan questions as part of a Q&A on his Twitter on June 15.
"Hey Mike, would you ever do TUF with Colby?" Asked @usachamp42069.
"Yep... I think that's a great idea," Chandler replied.
Covington is allegedly lined up for a third attempt at the welterweight title against Leon Edwards, who competes in the division above Chandler. Despite this, "Chaos" has undeniably demonstrated the ability to generate significant interest, and a matchup between him and Chandler would undoubtedly be highly profitable from a business standpoint; money talks.

In addition to this, Chandler's rumored fight with Conor McGregor is rapidly unraveling due to USADA and criminal controversies surrounding the Irish star. To compensate for a potential lost matchup, the UFC would likely compensate Chandler with a favorable bout in the future.
Chandler has entertained bouts as high as middleweight, as seen in his conversation with Conor McGregor on Episode 1 of TUF Season 31, so a welterweight bout is absolutely feasible.
Not only this, but Chandler has lost to three of the five lightweights above him in the rankings, which begs the question of whether he has a future in the UFC lightweight division anyway. If there was one money fight for an ageing Chandler at welterweight, it would be a showdown with Covington.
