UFC 290 Odds: Betting Lines For Alexander Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez
Drew Beaupré
The UFC is back in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 8 for UFC 290 at the T-Mobile Arena with a card stacked with interesting matchups and headlined by a pair of title fights.
The main event features a featherweight title unification bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez, with “The Great” attempting to defend his featherweight belt for a fifth time against the interim champion from Mexico. The co-main event will see Brandon Moreno put his flyweight title on the line against Alexandre Pantoja, who is currently riding a three-fight win streak and already holds two victories over the champion.

The rest of the event features everything from hot prospects to top-ranked fighters trying to earn a shot at UFC gold, and you can check out the best betting lines (courtesy of Oddschecker) for every UFC 289 matchup below.
Early Prelims
Lightweight: Kamuela Kirk (+125) vs. Esteban Ribovics (-140)
Both lightweights kicking off UFC 290 will be looking to rebound from losses, with Ribovics also hunting for his first UFC victory after Kirk pulled out of their previous booking and he was matched with Loik Radzhabov instead. Neither of these men are used to going the distance, so fans won’t want to miss it when they open the card in Las Vegas.
Men’s Flyweight: Shannon Ross (+126) vs. Jesus Aguilar (-140)
Ross and Aguilar were both given tough assignments for their promotional debuts, and whichever man comes up short here will likely be one more loss away from exiting the UFC. Aguilar was on a lengthy win streak prior to being submitted by Tatsuro Taira in April, while “The Turkish Delight” lost on Contender Series 2022 but took advantage of a short-notice opportunity that saw Kleydson Rodrigues stop him in under a minute.
Men’s Bantamweight: Cameron Saaiman (-480) vs. Terrence Mitchell (+400)
Saaiman’s profile has risen significantly as a friend and teammate of Dricus Du Plessis, but the undefeated fighter has also impressed in his two UFC bouts. The South African was originally scheduled to meet Christian Rodriguez at UFC 290, but now he’ll put his undefeated record on the line against the debuting Terrence Mitchell.
Light Heavyweight: Vitor Petrino (-275) vs. Marcin Prachnio (+240)
New talent is always welcome in the UFC’s heavier weight classes, and Vitor Petrino proved he’s more than just a dangerous finisher when he won a decision over Anton Turkalj in his UFC debut. Prachnio has struggled for consistency since joining the UFC in 2018, but the Polish fighter will enter the night after bouncing William Knight from the promotion in his last fight.
Catchweight (130 lbs): Edgar Cháirez (+700) vs. Tatsuro Taira (-910)
Taira was scheduled to compete against another hot prospect in Kleydson Rodrigues last month, however the Brazilian missed weight for that matchup and Taira will now welcome Edgar Cháirez to the UFC. “Pitbull” was scheduled for his second Contender Series appearance next month, and he’ll try to carry the momentum of back-to-back stoppage wins into his bout with the undefeated Japanese fighter.

Prelims
Light Heavyweight: Jimmy Crute (-120) vs. Alonzo Menifield (+105)
These light heavyweights met earlier this year but saw their fight end in a majority draw, so now they’ll try to settle things in an immediate rematch. The current betting lines certainly reflect how close that first meeting was, and Crute will be looking to avoid three losses in his last four fights while Menifield will try to claim the Australian’s spot in the light heavyweight rankings.
Strawweight: Yazmin Jauregui (-375) vs. Denise Gomes (+320)
Violent strikers collide in this strawweight matchup, with both women coming off impressive finishes in their most recent bouts. Jauregui’s skills on the feet have carried her to a perfect 10-0 record, but Gomes is willing to walk through some punishment in order to land her own big shots.
Welterweight: Jack Della Maddalena (-900) vs. Josiah Harrell (+650)
One of the UFC’s hottest young talents, Della Maddalena had the opportunity to make a significant jump in the welterweight rankings before Sean Brady was forced to pull out of their matchup. The Australian will now meet UFC debutant Josiah Harrell, who boasts one of the best nicknames in the sport (Muscle Hamster) as well as an undefeated record that’s seen him finish every opponent he’s faced.
Welterweight: Robbie Lawler (+225) vs. Niko Price (-250)
The last fight of Lawler’s Hall of Fame-worthy career will see “Ruthless” meet Niko Price in the featured prelim at UFC 290. “The Hybrid” has largely been a killed-or-be-killed fighter throughout his time with the UFC, so there’s a good chance that the matchup between him and Lawler will be in contention for Fight of the Night honors.

Main Card
Middleweight: Bo Nickal (-2400) vs. Valentine Woodburn (+1400)
On a card that’s seen a number of young fighters have their opponents pull out, Nickal’s matchup with Tresean Gore made it all the way to fight week before Gore withdrew with an injury. Undefeated Val Woodburn was pulled from his upcoming Contender Series matchup to meet the decorated wrestler, and it would be a historic upset if the 29-year-old is able to defeat Nickal in his UFC debut.
Lightweight: Dan Hooker (+220) vs. Jalin Turner (-245)
Arguably the most well-matched fight on the card outside of the two title fights, Turner and Hooker occupy the #11 and #12 spots in the lightweight rankings. “The Hangman” reminded fans of how dangerous he can be in his last fight with Claudio Puelles, while Turner will try to rebound from a controversial split decision against Mateusz Gamrot that snapped a five-fight finishing streak.
Middleweight: Robert Whittaker (-375) vs. Dricus Du Plessis (+310)
It’s not often that a fighter with two losses to the current champion gets to take part in what many consider to be a number one contender matchup, but Whittaker has beaten every middleweight he’s faced other than Israel Adesanya. If “The Reaper” wants another crack at Adesanya he’ll need to get past Du Plessis, who is undefeated since joining the UFC and already has his sights set on a challenging for the middleweight title.
Men’s Flyweight: Brandon Moreno (-188) vs. Alexandre Pantoja (+165)
After finally closing out his four-fight series with Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 283, Moreno will now look to defend his flyweight title against a fighter that’s already beaten him twice. Pantoja has looked impressive on a three-fight win streak that includes submission wins in his last two bouts, but “The Assassin Baby” is a much different fighter than when the pair last met in 2018.
Men’s Featherweight: Alexander Volkanovski (-380) vs. Yair Rodriguez (+310)
Volkanovski came up short in his bid to become a two-division champion at UFC 284, and on that same night Rodriguez submitted Josh Emmett to claim the UFC’s interim featherweight title. “The Great” has already defended his featherweight belt on four occasions and has openly discussed testing his skills at lightweight again, but Rodriguez will try to play spoiler and add to the considerable success that Mexican fighters have already had in UFC title fights this year.
