UFC 297 Results: Fighter Scores Insane Comeback Submission in Barn Burner Fight

UFC 297's first fight of the night was a fan-pleaser.

UFC 297's curtain-jerker delivered on all fronts. American grappler Jimmy "The Brick" Flick defied all odds by submitting Malcolm "X" Gordon in the second round with an arm-triangle choke. Flick faced heavy adversity, almost being TKO'd in both rounds. To add insult to injury, Gordon will forfeit 30% of his fight purse due to missing weight (127.5 lbs).

Flick snaps a two-fight losing streak and extends his triangle-choke streak to four. Gordon, on the other hand, loses for the third time in a row, missing weight in his last two bouts; the outlook is bleak for his UFC future.

Round-by-Round

Round 1

Gordon lights Flick up in the opening round. The two fighters tangle, and Gordon slams Flick to the ground. Gordon punishes Flick with ground and pound. The American attempts a single-leg getup but Gordon snatches his neck with a guillotine. Flick reverses the position, securing a von-flue choke, but it's not locked in. The round timer sounds, Gordon just about survived the choke.

Round 2

Gordon almost immediately hurts flick on the feet, putting the American on skates. Gordon batters his adversary against the cage, the fight could easily be stopped. The two fighters collide and Flick finds himself in a better position, taking Gordon's back. Gordon attempts to reverse the position but Flick finds the neck with an arm-triangle choke. Flick squeezes tight, Gordon struggles but can't free himself --- Gordon taps, Flick wins by submission in round two.
