One month out from the event, fans can now take a look at the official poster for a UFC 298 card headlined by Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria.
Alex Pereira Targets Former UFC Champ for First Title Defense
Unbeaten in the UFC’s featherweight division, many fans were understandably concerned that Volkanovski’s knockout loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 might jeopardize any chance of the Australian returning to defend his belt in the first half of 2024.
“The Great” had no concerns about making a relatively quick turnaround following his second failed bid to claim the UFC lightweight title, and the poster for UFC 298 features Volkanovski wearing his featherweight belt as he eyes up the #5-ranked Topuria.
“El Matador” doesn’t seem to be short of confidence heading into his first UFC title shot, and few fans can blame the 26-year-old for that considering he’s unbeaten in his career and has already collected six wins since he joined the UFC in 2020.
Topuria’s last victory against former interim title challenger Josh Emmett was a dominant showing, and it’s a win that looks even more impressive now after Emmett brutally knocked out Bryce Mitchell last month.

Fan support for Topuria has grown as the 26-year-old has racked up wins and started flexing his promotional muscles a bit more, but Volkanovski has already defended his featherweight title five times and is considered by some to be the greatest fighter in the history of the weight class.
Scheduled to take place on February 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, UFC 298 also features a co-main event between former middleweight king Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa as well as #2-ranked bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili taking on former two-division champion Henry Cejudo.
