Jamahal Hill doesn't plan to take much time off after he suffered a knockout loss in the light heavyweight title bout that headlined UFC 300.

“Sweet Dreams” claimed the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283 but unfortunately vacated the gold when he suffered an Achilles injury, and after more than a year on the shelf the 32-year-old finally returned to the cage to challenge Alex Pereira last Saturday.

Hill was stopped by the Brazilian in the opening round of that main event bout, and in the aftermath of the event the former champion has now set his sights on a matchup with Jiří Procházka.

Procházka preceded Hill as light heavyweight champion but also vacated the belt due to a shoulder injury, and both men seemed eager to meet in a title bout before “Sweet Dreams” tore his Achilles and was subsequently sidelined for an extended period.

“BJP” was knocked out by Pereira in his own return fight but rebounded from that result when he stopped Aleksandar Rakić on the prelims of UFC 300, and following that victory the 31-year-old indicated he wanted to face whichever fighter walked away from the main event as light heavyweight champion.

The fact that some fans questioned the stoppage in their first meeting at UFC 283 may work in Procházka’s favor if he pursues a rematch with Pereira, but #3-ranked Magomed Ankalaev is also waiting for his first shot at UFC gold following a second-round knockout over Johnny Walker in January.

A matchup between Hill and Procházka could still be a huge fight for the UFC after the pair exchanged words during Hill’s brief reign as champion, although “BJP” could also try to make a quick turnaround for a title fight given that Pereira suggested ahead of UFC 300 that he’d also like to compete at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
