UFC 302 has added an exciting middleweight clash and revamped a heavyweight bout for the night’s main card.

Scheduled to take place on June 1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, one of the most significant bouts initially set for UFC 302 was a heavyweight bout between Jailton Almeida and Alexander Volkov.

Volkov was rebooked late last month for a fight with his countryman Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia, and according to a report from AG Fight Almeida will now take on #13-ranked Alexandr Romanov at UFC 302.

The matchup between Almeida and Romanov promises to be an intriguing clash between high-level grapplers, and Léo Guimaraes of Super Lutas also reports that a middleweight bout between decorated strikers César Almeida and Roman Kopylov has been added to the Newark card as well.

A former kickboxer that holds a victory over Alex Pereira, Almeida successfully debuted in the UFC earlier this month when he stopped Dylan Budka with strikes in the second round and brought his MMA record to 5-0.

Kopylov was on an impressive four-fight run of knockout victories before he was submitted by Anthony Hernandez at UFC 298, and with the addition of that middleweight bout as well as Romanov vs. Almeida the fight card for UFC 302 currently looks like this:

  • Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez
  • Jailton Almeida vs. Alexandr Romanov
  • Joselyne Edwards vs. Ailin Perez
  • Mickey Gall vs. Bassil Hafez
  • Grant Dawson vs. Joe Solecki
  • Phil Rowe vs. Jake Matthews
  • Hyun Sung Park vs. André Lima
  • Niko Price vs. Jeremiah Wells
  • Sumudaerji vs. Joshua Van
  • Roman Kopylov vs. César Almeida
