UFC Excludes Scrapped Mexico Bout from Upcoming Fight Night

Fans won't get to see this bantamweight matchup in Las Vegas this weekend.

A scrapped bout from last Saturday’s UFC Mexico won’t be taking place at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas.

The UFC returned to Mexico City last weekend for the first time since 2019 and scheduled several matchups featuring Mexican talent, but unfortunately one of the main card fights fell through during the event when Raul Rosas Jr. was unable to face Ricky Turcios due to illness.

It was initially announced that the bantamweight tilt between Rosas Jr. and Turcios would be rescheduled for the following weekend in Las Vegas, but Nolan King reports that the UFC has decided to scrap that plan.

Rosas Jr. and Turcios were supposed to fight on the main card of UFC Mexico.

Still only 19 years of age, Rosas Jr. made headlines in 2022 when he appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series as a 17-year-old and earned a UFC contract thanks to his unanimous decision win over Mando Gutierrez.

“El Niño Problema” has gone 2-1 in the UFC so far and was set to earn back-to-back wins in a matchup with Turcios, who was the bantamweight winner on Season 29 of The Ultimate Fighter.

It’s unclear if the UFC will try to rebook the matchup between Rosas Jr. and Turcios for a later date, but this weekend’s UFC Fight Night could have benefited from another fight considering fan reaction to the main event between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Gaziev.
