UFC Fans Shocked as Dana White Reveals New Conor McGregor Return Timeline

McGregor's return remains foggy.

On January 31, 2023, "The Notorious" Conor McGregor excited fans with news of his anticipated 2024 UFC comeback.

The Irish megastar confidently declared June 29 as the official date. But now, contradicting this announcement, UFC CEO Dana White reveals a different timeline.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on February 7, White cleared the air on McGregor's return:

"Eventually [Conor McGregor will face Michael Chandler], hopefully this year," White said. "There is no date. I'm hoping for fall --- we get it done in the fall."

Fight fans were left befuddled as McGregor's return became even more nebulous. "This fight will never happen," one Twitter user remarked. Another wrote, "Conor is never fighting again is he?"

'McGregor fatigue' was at an all-time high when the Irish star didn't face Chandler in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 31, but it was rejuvenated when McGregor made his New Year's announcement. Now it might look as though fan sentiment is declining yet again.

"Chandler lost two years of his prime, Conor as well as his fans. Just book it somewhere fast..." One fan declared

Others believe the negotiations are a facade for an eventual McGregor UFC 300 headliner, but the UFC's tricentennial PPV is fast approaching with no announcements yet.
