The UFC just lost one of their upcoming main events.

Among the best middleweights in the world, former title challenger Marvin Vettori and Brendan Allen were scheduled to headline a UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas on Apr. 6. Of course, not everything goes according to plan.

UFC News: Atlantic City Fight Night Gets Surprising New Main Event

On Thursday, David Van Auken reported that 'The Italian Dream' had dropped out of the UFC Vegas 90 main event slot after Allen initially hinted at the fight being cancelled.

It is unknown at this time why Vettori withdrew from the bout. Regardless of the reason, the #6 ranked Allen now considers himself a top-five contender following the fight fallout.

"I’m not the type to argue or complain. When it’s time to fight, it’s time to fight and when I get to that point, I’ll fight whoever," Allen told Middle Easy before the fight was off.

Allen sets his sights higher than the previously booked Vettori, mentioning a trio of former world champions along with a one-time title challenger.

"I was ready for everything, so now I am the #5 @ufc middleweight in the world!" Allen wrote on Instagram. "So who above me is trying to fight soon? @killagorillamma @robwhittakermma sean @stylebender."

This higher echelon of the middleweight division may be left without a dance partner, but Israel Adesanya is likely up next to challenge champion Dricus Du Plessis in a title fight that has yet to be made official.

Robert Whittaker (#3) and Jared Cannonier (#4) are both coming off great wins in their last outings, as opposed to Sean Strickland who narrowly lost the title vs. Du Plessis in January.

Strickland previously TKO'ed Allen back in 2020 and while his former foe is 'all in' for a rematch, Strickland is wanting to avenge a loss of his own to reigning champ 'Stillknocks'.

As for Brendan Allen, the 28 year-old is riding an impressive six-fight win streak in the UFC's Middleweight division.

Who should step in to save the day against Brendan Allen on Apr. 6?
