UFC Legend Open To Seeing Sean Strickland Challenge Israel Adesanya
Sean Strickland is calling for a UFC middleweight title shot and one prominent name doesn't scoff at the idea.
Strickland was in action this past Saturday night (July 1). He shared the Octagon with Abus Magomedov in the main event of UFC Vegas 76. Despite a fast start for Magomedov, Strickland was able to put him away via second-round TKO.
During the UFC Vegas 76 post-fight press conference, Strickland expressed his belief that he's paid his dues for a 185-pound title opportunity. Taking to his YouTube channel, Bisping admitted that he's intrigued by a possible showdown between Strickland and the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya.
"He feels that Israel Adesanya's fought everyone," Bisping said. "Of course, he's fought Robert Whittaker twice, and the winner of Dricus vs. Robert is gonna get the next title fight. He says there's no way that Dricus wins and he also said that people don't want to see Whittaker fight him again, and I'll be honest after that one last night I wouldn't mind seeing it. Of course, the trash talk and the leadup to the fight would be phenomenal."
As Bisping mentioned, Adesanya is likely to fight the winner of the UFC 290 bout between Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis. Given Strickland's losses to Alex Pereira and Jared Cannonier, he may need a couple more big wins before challenging for UFC gold.
