UFC fans won't be too happy to know that one major UFC headliner has been canned.

Plans don't always come to fruition, and the MMA world knows it all too well. To this day, fans still discuss the fight that wasn't meant to be between UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. That fight was booked several times, but it always fell apart.

In this case, however, a contract wasn't even signed despite an announcement from UFC CEO Dana White.

The fight in question was a planned showdown between Sean Brady and Vicente Luque. Harry Mac was the first report that the fight was never signed to being with and was in jeopardy of being axed from the UFC Atlantic City main event. He later followed up, confirming the planned headliner is indeed off, and MMAJunkie brought word that Brady has been going through an injury.

While the search is on for a new headliner, one prominent contender has seemingly thrown her name in the hat to fill the void. UFC women's flyweight Erin Blanchfield had the following response to the news:

"So, they need a main event.."

One has to wonder if Blanchfield, who was born in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, can have her planned March 23 fight with Manon Fiorot move to the following Saturday to save the event.

MMA Knockout will keep you posted with the latest updates on the UFC Atlantic City main event as they surface.
